Tissot Official Timekeeper and Watch of the European Rugby Champions Cup and Challenge Cup
During the European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) 2015/16 Tournament Launch for Top 14 clubs at the Hotel de Ville in Lyon, France, which is the host city for the 2016 Champions Cup and Challenge Cup finals, EPCR announced Tissot as Official Timekeeper and Watch of the European Rugby Champions Cup and Challenge Cup.
Tissot will supply timekeeping technology to all stadiums staging Champions Cup and Challenge Cup matches during the coming season and for the next five years to come.
Tissot have a long-standing commitment to rugby and they were the Official Timekeeper of the hugely successful Rugby World Cup 2015, and they are the current Official Timekeeper of the Top 14 and the RBS 6 Nations Championship. The company is also the Official Timekeeper of the NBA and has been associated with a multitude of major sports including MotoGPTM, the International Basketball Association (FIBA) and the World Championships of Ice Hockey, Cycling, and Fencing.
EPCR Director General, Vincent Gaillard, said: “It’s great news that a world-class brand such as Tissot is coming on board as an official timekeeper of the tournaments. The Champions Cup and Challenge Cup are set to take centre stage once again, and as accurate timekeeping is vital in a sport such as rugby, we are sure that Tissot will play a key role as we continue to grow the club game in Europe. “This new partnership is also particularly pleasing from our perspective as Tissot’s Swiss headquarters is situated in the Canton of Neuchatel where EPCR has established its base since 2014.”
François Thiébaud, President of Tissot, said: “We are very proud to be part of the European professional club rugby. This partnership strengthens our commitment to the world of rugby, which, in itself, demonstrates many of our company values, such as teamwork and individual performance at the same time, respect, fair play, discipline and a love for sport. Furthermore, the European rugby Champions Cup and Challenge Cup are the perfect platform to showcase our expertise in a thrilling international environment.”
EPCR’s 2016 finals will both be staged at the Grand Stade de Lyon with the Challenge Cup final going ahead on Friday, 13 May 2016 followed by the Champions Cup decider on Saturday, 14 May 2016.
